As a Washington state native, Jeffrey Ried learned about the interconnectedness of the mountains, sea, and farming, which led him to earn his PhD in agriculture. The Land Institute caught Jeffrey’s eye because of the work he was doing on food security in Africa and the depleted lands in farmers’ fields. The more he learned about the work of The Land Institute, the more he saw how perennial crops were a way to reverse the degradation and bring soils back to life. Jeffrey brings international experience in partnerships, agriculture, and research to The Land Institute in support of its global initiatives.
My most perennial trait is humor — I am a really good stand-up facilitator at large meetings.
