Read about our involvement at Climate Week NYC 2025 – Securing a sustainable future with perennial grains.
The Newton, Kansas-based company Prairy is hosting a two-part event on Saturday, October 11th, to offer attendees the opportunity to learn about the role of Kernza® perennial grain in the future of regenerative food systems. Part one of this event will include a book signing by Against the Grain author Roger Thurow, whose book features Kansas Kernza® growers Brandon Kaufman and Jason Schmidt. The book signing will be followed by a screening of the award-winning short film Beer Saves the World, which tells the story of Kernza’s recent impact in the craft brewing space and the innovation by craft brewers to support the market for this emerging grain. Attendees are also encouraged to stick around after the 10-minute picture to taste a variety of locally-brewed beers made with Kernza and visit with local Kernza advocates, including Sustain-A-Grain, The Farm and the Odd Fellows, Riverbank Brewing, and Irrigation Ales.
The event takes place at 601 N Main St, Newton, Kansas, 67114 and is free to attend and open to the public.
