Originally from outside Philadelphia, Ellie Sheik attended Vassar College in New York, where she earned degrees in Environmental Studies and Geography. Having worked with farmers to understand their experiences growing winter oilseed cover crops, she is passionate about building resilient soils to support a sustainable, equitable food system. At The Land Institute, Ellie works on the soil ecology team, seeking to understand how perennial systems contribute to soil health.
My most perennial trait: Community – I enjoy bringing people together and creating life-long friendships.
