Jacob Barefoot is the New Roots for Restoration BII (NRR-BII) post-baccalaureate researcher with the Soil Ecology team. Recently moving to Salina from Alabama, many of Jacob’s professors described him as one of the most curious students they have had. Jacob will join us for this next year, supporting the NRR-BII project while conducting an independent research project to study whether the soil microbiome confers fungal pathogen resistance to Silphium. With experience in the greenhouse and working with mycorrhizal fungi for a sand dune restoration project, we are lucky to have Jacob’s talents on our team.
