Liberty considers the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina to be home and now lives near The Land Institute’s headquarters in Salina, KS. Liberty possesses an educational background in Art History and Middle Eastern Studies, and has experience working as an administrative assistant and many years working in hospitality such as food service and catering.

What’s most inspiring about your specific position at The Land Institute?

My involvement in so many different aspects of our work. I get an intimate look at everyone’s day

What drew you to work at The Land Institute?

A close family friend suggested I apply, and after some deeper research, I felt drawn to The Land Institute

What perennial grain do you look forward to eating most, and how would you prepare it?

Baki Bean! Lentil soup with lots of lemon

What else are you passionate about outside of work?

Textile arts, sustainable fashion

What’s your motto/favorite quote?

“Leave me alone To find my own way home” – Liberty, Grateful Dead

What were you like at age 10?

Stubborn, determined, head in the clouds… Not much has changed.
