By supporting our work with a gift today, you help us provide farmers with crops and practices better-suited to feeding a hungry world, without further compromising the health of the very ecosphere that sustains us all.
Your gifts go to work immediately, and they do more than just keep the lights on. They:
- Purchase microscopes and slides to examine plant tissue, and solar-powered vehicles to get from one field to another;
- Keep water re-circulating through the ebb and flow benches in our greenhouse;
- Create “winter” in our vernalization chamber to accelerate the flowering of plants in our breeding programs;
- Supply ventilation and climate-controlled storage in spaces used to process and analyze harvested materials;
- Support postdoctoral researchers carrying out experiments at collaborating institutions;
- Pay the salaries of the full-time scientists, technicians, and support staff at our Salina, Kansas, headquarters; and
- Bring talented undergraduate interns to help with summertime planting and harvest.

Become a Friend of The Land
With an annual gift of $50 or more, you’ll receive the latest copy of our Land Report printed newsletter (only available via mail until the next issue is printed), discounted admission to special events, and notices of Land Institute speaking appearances in your area. Many of those whom Wes Jackson calls our “Consecrated Constituency” began their support many years ago as Friends of the Land.
Become a Perennial Friend of the Land
Make an ongoing monthly donation to become a Perennial Friend of the Land using our secure online donation page or by mailing in this form with your donation.
Monthly payments can make a larger gift more affordable for you, while also providing The Land Institute with a more predictable income stream – it’s a win-win!
Gifts can be made via automatic bank draft or credit/debit card transaction, in an amount and on a recurring date of your choosing. You’ll receive an annual summary of your contributions as well as the Land Report, discounted admission to special events, and periodic special updates on our people and work.
Donor Advised Fund
Donor advised funds are established at charitable organizations for the purpose of facilitating grants to nonprofit organizations. Gifts to these funds allow you to receive an immediate tax benefit, and then recommend grants from the fund in support of your favorite causes. The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, Fidelity Charitable, and Schwab Charitable are but three of many organizations through which such gifts may be made.
