Madeline Dykstra
Soil Ecology Research Assistant
Madeline lives in Salina, KS, but considers the area where she grew up in southern Ohio as home. Madeline graduated with a BS in Biology from Calvin University in Michigan in the Spring of 2023 and also brings experience researching red-shouldered hawk genetics, in which she conducted fieldwork & lab work, and facilitated data management.

What drew you to work at The Land Institute?
I want to work in sustainable agriculture, and The Land Institute’s work with perennial crops is very interesting and environmentally friendly.
What is most inspiring about your specific position at The Land Institute?
I love getting to hear about and work with all the different projects happening at The Land Institute.
What else are you passionate about outside of work?
Outside of work, I like to bird watch, bike, and sew
