Sam Cusick

Facilities Research Assistant

Sam joins The Land Institute as a Salina, Kansas resident, which he considers his home ground. Sam is currently pursuing a degree in electrical engineering at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. Sam lived on and helped out with tasks on a farm growing up, knowledge that will contribute to his work with The Land Institute on perennial grain research efforts.

What’s most inspiring about your specific position at The Land Institute?

Being outside in nature instead of being stuck inside all day

What drew you to work at The Land Institute?

Both of my siblings worked at The Land Institute and enjoyed it

What’s one aspect of your life history that most people don’t know or wouldn’t expect?

I played the saxophone in high school and made first chair in the state jazz band.
