Raised in Salina, Kansas, USA, Zach Jake pursued an education in Zoology and Aquatic Ecology before pivoting to agricultural sciences. He has an interest in the impacts that perennial grains can have on maximizing yield while reducing farming inputs that might otherwise harm the environment. At The Land Institute, Zach focuses on breeding perennial sorghum to increase its potential to endure harsh winters as stubbornly as its wild perennial cousin, Johnson grass.
My most perennial trait: Winter Hardiness – Each winter tries to end me, but I keep coming back. I might be the only one here who prefers the winter months!
