This year’s 2024 World Brewing Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota will contain a session exploring the use of novel grains for brewing that provide substantial environmental benefits and support sustainable agricultural practices, specifically winter barley and Kernza perennial grain. This session will also examine recent research on the use of Kernza as grain or malt in brewing and the commercialization of this new crop.
This session’s speakers include Evan Craine, a Research Associate in End-Use Science in The Land Institute’s Crop Stewardship Program; University of Minnesota partners Katharine Chute and Jake Jungers; and Matthew Leiphon of the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI).
