Will Schneider Departs The Land Institute

A letter to The Land Institute Community,

If ever there was a word to exactly encapsulate a feeling, it would be bittersweet. Will Schneider has made the difficult decision to move on in his career for a new opportunity that is exciting for him, utilizes his considerable strengths, and continues to deepen his ties to a sustainable future. Obviously, we are saddened to see him move on, and enormously proud of him. Will has been with The Land Institute for almost four years and has done so much. While it is tough to imagine TLI without his voice, ideas, and energy, we are forever in his corner.

The Land Institute is rooted deeply in a sustainable and just future. We see that not only at our home place in Kansas, our home offices scattered about the United States, with our collaborators across many continents, yet also in ideas and energy. The people make this place, this work, what it is. Behind the science, behind the education, advocacy, storytelling, farming, baking, we are a group of people with dreams, hopes, grit, and determination that there is a better way. Will exemplifies that. He has stewarded relationships, positively impacted the organization, and has managed the social media with his uncanny ability to speak about the science, and the promise of perennial grains. He is an inspiration, and now he gets to use those same dreams, grit, determination, and leadership to broaden the work we all can do toward “better.”

Our responsibility, and what we do best, is in part, this idea hub of what transformational change looks like. We excel at learning and teaching, we are proud to learn from others, teach others, and be voices in co-leading a global movement toward a more sustainable future. Being on this journey with us involves so many things, importantly among them, the team that makes this happen. We, as employees, are committed to continuing to learn from people who share ideas with us, and doing our best to inspire others to hone energy and carry that out into the world. TLI is honored to be part of the root system Will has and is excited to see what he accomplishes next.

Please help me wish Will the best on this next step!

Perennially,

Amy Cole, Director of Development
