Brooks Anderson was raised downbeach from Atlantic City, NJ, but has spent the last 30 years in southern India. When he returned from a tour of farms practicing Masanobu Fukuoka’s methods in India in the Spring of 1988, Paul Rasch strongly encouraged him to apply for The Land’s internship program. As an intern, Brooks worked on the Land’s perennial sorghum breeding program. Upon returning to India in 1995, Brooks spent 18 years on a certified organic farm, where he worked to establish on-farm ecological accounting under the guidance of Marty Bender. He presented papers on this project at the first and third conferences of the Indian Society for Ecological Economics in 1999 and 2003, respectively.
My most perennial trait is Challenge – In 2021, my wife and I adopted an 8-year-old girl, who is proving to be my greatest challenge yet.
1989 Intern at The Land Institute
