Originally from Eugene, Oregon, Hugh Ruskin Gould came full circle and returned there. He learned about The Land Institute from an article in Organic Gardening magazine during college, and his South Dakota farming ancestry has been stirred ever since then. Being part of the second group of The Land interns, they did foundational experiments and ag school outreach that helped lay the groundwork for Wes Jackson’s vision. Hugh incorporated his experience at The Land Institute into his current permaculture, food forest, and organic gardening practices. As a Zen Buddhist monk, he sees the deep need for strong community living sustainably in harmony with nature and our agricultural practices.
My most perennial trait is Steadfastness – I’m in it for the long run, which, hopefully, reflects our enduring biosphere.
