Born in Stillwater, MN, Kathy Holm was introduced to sustainable agriculture and looking to nature for solutions in graduate school at the University of Minnesota while studying agroforestry. She read Wes Jackson’s book New Roots for Agriculture and wanted to experience the research firsthand. As a former intern, Kathy worked with Marty Bender at the Sunshine Farm, collecting and analyzing data on energy efficiency and perennial agriculture. In her career, she worked for the Natural Resources Conservation Service and the U.S. Forest Service, focusing on soil health, community engagement, and partnerships.
My most perennial trait is Connectedness – Understanding and appreciating the web of life; and connecting people, ideas, and organizations for the greater good.
