Join us for Community Days at The Land Institute in Salina, Kansas! This event series focuses on experiential learning, community building, land stewardship, and creative placemaking. Community Days are great for those interested in the intersections of agriculture, ecology, and art. This event series offers ways to build a more sustainable future through hands-on engagement at our campus headquarters.

This event will offer participants multiple opportunities to engage in community sculptural art. It takes place on September 16, 2026 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the K2 property located at 2648 E Water Well Rd, Salina, KS 67401. Prairie Festival artists Prairie Works Designs, Sean Whalen, Rena Detrixhe, and Karen McCoy will all be on-site to work on their sculptures. There will be live music (musician TBD) and free pizza, snacks, and drinks. Attendees can observe or get hands-on in helping the artists complete their sculptures. This is a great opportunity to be on the land, meet new people, and try your hand at new natural art mediums and practices. The completed sculptures will be featured at our 2026 Prairie Festival, held the following week from September 25th to September 27th. 

We welcome guests of all ages and abilities. Seating will be provided for the presentation and meal, and restrooms will be available throughout the day.
