“Soil is more important than oil: inside the perennial grain revolution” – Read the new feature article in The Guardian



Lake City Books in Madison, Wisconsin is hosting an event to spotlight the Living Roots book, celebrate perennial foods, and discuss their growing importance in the Upper Midwest region of the US. The book’s co-editors, Aubrey Streit Krug of The Land Institute and author Liz Carlisle, will moderate a discussion featuring Keefe Keeley of the Savanna Institute and Laura Paine of the University of Wisconsin Extension.
Living Roots: The Promise of Perennial Foods incorporates perspectives from experts across numerous backgrounds and lived experiences to examine the promise of perennial foods such as perennial grains, indigenous food forests, fruit trees, nuts, berries, and more for sustaining communities and protecting the health of our shared planet.
This event is free to attend and open to the public, and will take place at Lake City Books at 107 N Hamilton St Madison, WI 53703. Attendees will also be able to purchase copies of the book at the event.
