The conference brings compelling keynote speaker Ricardo Salvador from the Union of Concerned Scientists (The Land Institute board member), Sarah Lovell (Center for Agroforestry, Mizzou), Aubrey Streit Krug (The Land Institute, Ecospheric Studies) and over twenty other speakers.
Conference sessions are grounded in the latest crop research, field data, farmer perspectives, and market and policy efforts related to continuous living cover farming. Wide ranging sessions will cover everything from “Storing carbon in agricultural soils: what do we need to know?” to “multi-functional ag as a solution;” from “regenerative ag market trends” (Cascadian Farm) to “the launch of new carbon removal marketplaces” (NORI).
The conference focuses on challenges farmers face with chaotic weather, economic uncertainty, social divisions, and increasing pressure to deliver both quality products and environmental benefits. Collaborative solutions are more important than ever. At this year’s conference, learn how grounded champions are collaborating with the next generation of agricultural leaders and new allies in creative partnerships to break (or not break) new ground, keeping our soil and our communities rooted as we endeavor to create a resilient agriculture.
Green Lands Blue Waters and partners are conducting essential research, translating knowledge into Continuous Living Cover farming systems, developing new extension and outreach capacity, working in farm fields, shaping policy, building profitable markets and changing the narrative around what’s possible through agriculture. The value of Continuous Living Cover farming comes in yields and profits, but also in improved soil health, cleaner water, new markets, more wildlife, reduced risk, and resiliency in the face of a changing climate.
