Place Out of Matter
Date: Friday, May 3, 2019
170-B Suffolk Street
New York, NY 10002
The Land Institute research resident, Rena Detrixhe, will present a solo show, Place Out of Matter at Spencer Brownstone in New York City that will include a new sited sculptural piece that’s a result of her emerging collaboration with The Land Institute.
Through large-scale objects and installations, ephemeral sculpture, performance, drawings, and process-based work, she explores systems of value and cultural relations to land and the more-than-human world with attention to histories of injustice. Her current research is focused on Midwestern agriculture as both an important cultural signifier, and a deeply troubled relationship to the land.
Say hello to our friend and colleague Rena at the Spencer Brownstone’s opening reception, Friday, May 3rd from 6-8 p.m. The exhibit will be on display through June 16, 2019.
