Hot Farm Pt 3: Is Kernza the Grain of the Future?

Publication: Food & Environment Reporting Network

Author: Rachel Yang

In Hot Farm, a new podcast from the Food & Environment Reporting Network, travels across the Midwest, talking to farmers about what they are doing, or could be doing, to combat climate change. In the American Heartland, farmers are battling increasingly severe weather, with epic floods and heat. Agriculture accounts for an impossible to ignore 10 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, so if we’re serious about fighting climate change, farmers need to be part of the solution.

Episode 3 is all about Kernza® perennial grain and the community working to make it a reality. This episode considers what farmers grow—and whether that, too, can change.
