Join the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute on August 5 for their alternative crops field day to view their collaborative test plots with The Nature Conservancy. Learn how Kernza® production and conservation practices, including prairie strips and agroforestry, can protect groundwater and the sensitive landscapes near East Troy, Wisconsin.
At this field day, attendees can view alternative crops and trial plots with Prosso Millet, buckwheat, and 2 and 6-year-old Kernza perennial grain fields. The event also includes educational stations, a farm tour, lunch featuring alternative crops, and a recipe challenge, where participants can taste food and judge dishes.
This field day is free to attend and open to the public, and interested participants should RSVP in advance. The event takes place on August 5, 2026, from 9 am – 2 pm Central Time at the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute New Farm (N8832 Pickeral Lake Rd, East Troy, Wisconsin 53120).
