The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s (UNL) Center for Great Plains Studies is hosting a free screening of the Prairie Prophecy film on April 23 as part of their 50th anniversary year celebration. This documentary takes viewers on a journey through the life and vision of Wes Jackson, co-founder of The Land Institute. The film will highlight Jackson’s “natural systems agriculture” framework, which forms the backbone of the organization’s work to pursue a perennial agriculture transformation.
After the screening, The Land Institute’s Aubrey Streit Krug, Director of the Perennial Cultures Lab, will lead a discussion around her program’s work to establish diverse, perennial food systems. She will also discuss her educational background with UNL that ultimately led her to join The Land Institute’s research efforts.
This event is free to attend and open to the public. It takes place at the university’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center-Van Brunt Visitors Center at 313 N 13th St, Lincoln, NE 68508.
