Join The Land Institute and community partners this Earth Week to celebrate all that perennial grains offer for people and the planet! Taste Kernza® perennial grain foods and attend community events in the Salina, Kansas area from April 20th to April 26th.

Land Institute campus tour
Visit The Land Institute’s campus headquarters for a guided tour of our facilities led by our team of experts in perennial agriculture research.
Friday, April 24: 6 – 7:30 pm
“Salina Reads” happy hour
Hosted by the Salina Public Library and Red Fern Booksellers, this community reading experience features speakers from The Land Institute, the Smoky Hills Audubon Society, the Lakewood Discovery Center, and Kansas Wesleyan University. It will also include light appetizers and a cash bar.
Saturday, April 25: 6:30 am -12 pm
Community Day at Marty Bender Nature Area
Developed by The Land Institute and supported by community partners, this event will feature hands-on engagement activities near our campus headquarters. This event is designed for attendees to come and go as they like throughout the day. The schedule of activities includes:
6:30 – 7:30 am: Sunrise yoga with Roots and Wings Yoga & Meditation, suitable for all levels and designed to usher in the energy of the day with the rhythm of your breath
6:30 am – 12 pm: Take some time to admire the artistic work of the local En Plein Air club, which will be set up painting landscapes throughout the day.
7:30 – 9 am: Social hour with free coffee, light snacks, and time to share stories and go for a walk
9 – 10 am: Live music by Treehouse, Westen Gehring, and Anita Chase
10 am – 12 pm: Guided birding and prairie plant hike with David Van Tassel of The Land Institute and Neva Heikes of the Smoky Hills Audubon Society.

Six locations in the Salina area will offer Kernza on their menus and products during the week of April 20th.
