Press Release – “Living Roots: The Power of Perennial Foods” – New book available NOW.

Smith College is hosting Living Roots co-editors Aubrey Streit Krug, Liz Carlisle, and contributor Piyush Labhsetwar for a book launch event on April 8th. This group will lead discussions on the book’s themes around perennial foods and their benefits to ecosystems and communities. They will also be joined by a panel of local agroforesters leading perennial agriculture work in Western Massachusetts.
Living Roots: The Promise of Perennial Foods incorporates perspectives from experts across numerous backgrounds and lived experiences to examine the promise of perennial foods such as perennial grains, indigenous food forests, fruit trees, nuts, berries, and more for sustaining communities and protecting the health of our shared planet.
This event is free to attend and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste recipes featuring perennial ingredients, thanks to support from artist and chef Kyra Kristof of Forest Kitchen. Guests can also purchase copies of the book locally at Broadside Books in Northampton.
