Members of The Land Institute’s Crop Stewardship program will lead a perennial grain panel session at the Plant Protein Innovation Center’s (PPIC) 2026 Solution-Driven Innovation Workshop this May. Jen Mayer, Director of Crop Stewardship, and Evan Craine, Lead Scientist in Grain Use & Quality, will discuss crop breeding and food science efforts to develop perennial grain crops, including Baki™ bean, and its potential to produce novel proteins.
At this first-ever conference, several food science and technology leaders will highlight impactful, real-world innovations that the PPIC’s member organizations are leading. This perennial grain session takes place on day one of the two-day workshop on May 18th, 2026. The perennial grain discussion will be a 15-minute “lightning talk,” and an interactive breakout session will follow, where the audience can engage with the presenters.
Interested attendees must register in advance to attend the conference. See the link below for ticket pricing—attendees can register before April 10, 2026, to receive an Early Bird discount.
The Land Institute is an Associate member of the University of Minnesota’s PPIC, and we look forward to their continued partnership to co-advance perennial grain and sustainable protein research goals.
